PUNE: The Central Board of Secondary Education said the changes in its
Class X and XII examination pattern would not affect the
state board students. The board officials said that attempting objective-type questions will require the students to prepare thoroughly, otherwise they won’t be able to answer them.
“In fact, reducing the length of the question paper will give more writing time to the students, thereby reducing their exam stress.
The practicals/internal assessments have been introduced in all subjects to discourage rote learning and encourage experiential learning. This will lead to understanding, recalling and application of knowledge and developing higher order of thinking and problem solving skills,” senior public relations officer of
CBSE, Rama Sharma, said.
“With more objective questions, students will need to study in detail to score better marks,” she added.
She added that the CBSE has made changes in the question paper design for 2020 without compromising its quality and difficulty level while fulfilling the objective of permanence in learning.
