One dies, 15 hurt in Motihari and Muzaffarpur accidents

Muzaffarpur/ A sexagenarian woman was killed and at least 15 were injured in two separate road accidents in Muzaffarpur and Motihari on Tuesday.

MUZAFFARPUR/ MOTIHARI: A sexagenarian woman was killed and at least 15 were injured in two separate road accidents in Muzaffarpur and Motihari on Tuesday.
In Muzaffarpur, the accident took place near Chandrahatti Chowk under Kurhani police station area on Tuesday noon. Those injured are undergoing treatment at Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) and condition of six of them are said to be critical.
The incident took place when a high speed SUV collided with an autorickshaw coming from opposite direction.
DSP (west) Krishna Mohan Prasad said, "The SUV was in the wrong lane. It hit the autorickshaw leaving more than 10 persons in a pool of blood. However, the driver managed to escape from the scene," Prasad said adding that an FIR has been lodged with the Kurhani police station against the driver under different sections of negligent driving.
SKMCH superintendent Dr Sunil Kumar Shahi said 11 persons have been admitted to the hospital. "Condition of six of them are precarious, while the condition of remaining persons is stable," Dr Shahi said. Meanwhile, one Dahauri Devi (65) was killed in a road accident near Chorama village on Madhuban -Pakaridayal road in Motihari. The deceased's grandson Rakesh Yadav (21) was also badly injured. Rakesh was going to Chorama village on his motorcycle with his grandmother sitting as pillion rider. A truck coming from opposite direction dashed the motorcycle.
Police have sent Dahauri's body for postmortem at Motihari sadar hospital and her injured grandson Rakesh has been admitted to a private hospital in Motihari.Pakaridayal police station SHO Nityanand Chuhan said the onlookers chased the truck and caught Ritesh and Naushad, the driver and the cleaner and handed them over to the police.
