Two cops from New Jersey department charged with DUI on same day

Two cops from the same New Jersey police department were busted separately for drunk driving on the same day, according to a new report.

Gloucester Township police officer Steven Lenker, 29, allegedly hit a pedestrian and a parked car while under the influence on July 18, while fellow officer James Ryan, 28, was allegedly three times over the legal booze limit, NJ.com reports.

Lenker — a six-year veteran of the force who earns $95,536 — allegedly hit a pedestrian in Atlantic City around 8 p.m then rammed into a parked car, the outlet reported.

The sloshed lawman allegedly told cops through slurred speech that he couldn’t remember what happened — then failed a field sobriety test, but refused to take a breath test.

“I don’t remember hitting a vehicle, all I remember is leaving the scene of, someone, whatever,” Lenker allegedly said when cops caught up with him, NJ.com reports.

“Maybe I hit a vehicle, someone whatsoever, it might have been a thing. I’m sorry.”

The pedestrian was taken to the hospital with back and head pain.

Earlier that day, Ryan was arrested for driving the wrong direction down a one-way street in neighboring Longport — allegedly mumbling “there goes my f—ing career” as he was cuffed at 2:47 a.m., NJ.com reports.

Ryan, who smelled of alcohol, slurred his speech and said he was coming from “the club,” cops say.

He begged the arresting officer to spare him, saying “Sir, I can’t afford to lose this job, sir,” before allegedly blowing 0.24 on a Breathalyzer — three times the legal limit.

Gloucester Township Police Department Capt. Brian McKendry said both officers had been placed on leave with pay pending an investigation.

Ryan was previously convicted for drunk driving in 2011 when he was pulled over by police in Deptford Township, according to NJ.com.
