Gajapayana held amid much fanfare
On Thursday, Gajapayana, the traditional march of Dasara elephants from the forest to Mysuru Palace, was held at Veernahosahalli. Minister R Ashok was at the helm of affairs and showered flowers on the jumbos. A total of six caparisoned elephants, led by Arjuna, will now be transported to Aranya Bhavan, where they will stay for a few days and then head to the Palace.
Folk dance, Dollu Kunitha, Veeragaase, Kamsale and Poojakunitha were performed to celebrate the occasion.
Priests performed pujas for the smooth conduct of the festival and the well-being of the Dasara elephants.
