Unidentified burglars broke into a temple in Danoli village of Kolhapur district and decamped with valuables worth Rs 35,000, including the donation box and jewellery on the idol.

KOLHAPUR: Unidentified burglars broke into a temple in Danoli village of Kolhapur district and decamped with valuables worth Rs 35,000, including the donation box and jewellery on the idol.
A case in this regard has been registered with Jaysingpur police station. “The incident took place between 9pm on Thursday and 4am on Friday. The priest had locked the temple on Thursday night.
When he returned on Friday morning, he found the locks on the main gate of temple broken and immediately alerted the temple administration. After entering the temple, they found that lock of sanctum of the temple was broken and the donation box was missing. Silver ornaments on the idol were also stolen,” an police officer said.
“The donation box was later found on the road outside the village, but it was empty. We are gathering information about the incident and searching for closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras on the roads leading to the temple to get any clue regarding the suspects,” he added.
