'That's the worst I've ever seen': Outrageous own goal at Sydney soccer tournament leaves viewers in tears as it goes viral online

A defender has scored an outrageous own goal that lost his side the grand final in an amateur Sydney soccer league.

The match between north-western Sydney teams Eastwood St Andrews AFC and Gladesville Ravens went down to the wire, with scores locked at 2-2 with five minutes to play.

Eastwood St Andrews got a penalty, and set up for the shot that could win them the title.

Spectators at the ground called out to the Eastwood striker, yelling 'pressure's on mate, come on, don't miss it!'

He struck the ball well, sending it shooting down to the bottom right of the goal, but the keeper dived forward, making a dramatic save to keep Gladesville in the match. 

The ball bounced forward from the keeper to a Gladesville defender, who rushed in to clear the ball away from the goal square.

As he swung his right foot for the kick, the defender's left leg struck the ball, sending it sailing past the keeper's right hand and into the net.

The dramatic own goal proved the difference, with Eastwood winning the title 3-2.

The video was shared thousands of times on Twitter, with commenters saying they were left in tears and it was the worst own goal they had ever seen.
