A man was shot dead while half a dozen others were injured when two groups clashed over a trivial issue related to Janmashtami celebrations in Baroda Dang village of Lalitpur on Sunday.

JHANSI: A man was shot dead while half a dozen others were injured when two groups clashed over a trivial issue related to Janmashtami celebrations in Baroda Dang village of Lalitpur on Sunday.
Police have arrested five persons in this connection.
According to police, an altercation broke out between two groups during the 'dahi matki' (breaking of earthen pot) event on Saturday after which both the sides pelted stones at each other.

The two groups were pacified after which they returned home. Clashes broke out again on Sunday morning when both groups attacked each other with sticks and stones. In the meantime, someone in the mob opened fire, killing a 22-year-old man, identified as Gopal.
Heavy police force was rushed to the village to control the situation.
Superintendent of police, Lalitpur, Mirza Manzar Beg, said, "We have lodged a criminal case under relevant sections against all accused and have arrested five persons and have constituted teams to trace others."
