NEW DELHI: Former Jawaharlal Nehru University students’ union president SN Balaji has written to the minister for human resource and development (MHRD), alleging that two Dalit BTech students are being denied registration in their third semester and being forced to leave by the administration.
Balaji said that the JNU Engineering School students had taken admission in the university hoping to get a space to learn and grow but were being harassed.
He alleged that the students were not informed about examinations and promotion rules in advance, due to which they are facing problems.
“All of a sudden, the students were told that they didn’t have the necessary grade, hence their registration to the third semester starting from July 2019 was being withheld. They had to struggle throughout the year for books, proper class rooms and other facilities. Even the website didn’t have the ordinance applicable for them publically displayed,” added the letter.
University officials could not be reached for comment on the matter.
