UP: Eight arrested for robbing truck with consignment for Maharashtra

AGRA: UP's Etah police busted a gang and arrested eight men who robbed a truck laden with footwear consignment for Maharashtra earlier this month.
According to police, a total of Rs 19 lakh worth footwears packed in 109 carton were recovered along with a truck. Apprehended accused were identified as Tillu Singh, Ved Vayas (truck driver), Kuldeep Gupta, Dinkar Mishra, Vineet Mishra, Sonu Gupta, Vikas Chaudhary and Rajeev Gupta.Though four men of the gang identified as Ankur, Anu Yadav, Amarpal and Brijesh are still absconding.
Etan superintendent of police Sunil Kumar Singh said, "On August 18, 137 cartons of footwear consignment was dispatched in a truck from Runkata based factory of Sikandra police jurisdiction of Agra district for Akola, Maharashtra. But the truck driver Ved Vayas drove the truck toward Etah. Later, a gang armed with weapons took over the truck along with several lakh worth footwear."
"During probe our team busted the gang and have arrested eight person, while other absconding will also be arrested soon," he added.
