LUCKNOW: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered two FIRs against the director and superintendent of Maa Vindhyavasini Mahila Balika Prashikshan Sansthan on late Thursday night.
Last year, in Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria district, a sex scandal broke out where inmates were drugged before being sent to entertain ‘powerful guests’ so they didn’t feel the pain. The scandal came to light after a 13-year-old inmate managed to slip out of the shelter home and had narrated her ordeal.
The police took action after the girl informed that all the inmates were being treated like servants.
She also said that cars use to come to pick up girls above 15 years of age. Later, 24 other girls were also rescued.
Deoria police had registered an FIR on August 6, 2018 and the case was referred to CBI on August 9, the same year.
CBI officials said that the first FIR was registered based on the first hand-account of the 13-year-old inmate who had fled from the shelter home and alleged sexual harassment, wrongful confinement for three or more days, trafficking of persons, sexual assault and adoption without prescribed rules along with the protection of children from sexual offences act against the director of Maa Vindhyavasini Mahila Balika Prashikshan Sansthan and Kanchan Lata, superintendent of the same shelter home along with some unidentified persons.
The second FIR has been registered on the complaint of district probationary officer, Prabhat Kumar, against director of Maa Vindhyavasini Mahila Balika Prashikshan Sansthan and Kanchan Lata, superintendent of the same shelter home along with some unidentified persons on the charges of assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty.
