Beef & Boards theater's 2020 season includes 'Newsies' and 'Saturday Night Fever'

You'll have four brand new shows to accompany the killer macaroni and cheese at Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre next year.

"Saturday Night Fever," "An American in Paris," "Beehive" and "Newsies" make up half of the mainstage productions in 2020 — and all of the titles are new to 9301 Michigan Road.

Storied classics like "Steel Magnolias" and "The Sound of Music" round out the rest of the theater's 47th season. Two shows specifically for kids are on the program as well.

"Phantom" is on the program for 2020 at Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre.

Here's the full 2020 lineup:

'Steel Magnolias'

Jan. 4 to Feb. 2

Six Southern women gossip, joke and pull each other through incredible difficulty as they congregate in a Louisiana beauty salon.

'Saturday Night Fever'

Feb. 6 to March 29

The iconic movie about a hardscrabble Brooklyn man who finds his passion for dance will take stage with all the soundtrack goodness of "More Than a Woman," "Disco Inferno" and more.

'An American in Paris'

April 2 to May 10

The stunning visual tableaux and music — think "I Got Rhythm" — by George and Ira Gershwin will take shape live as an American soldier, a French woman and the city of Paris intertwine in a setting just after World War II.

'The Sound of  Music'

May 14 to July 3

The world of the seven Von Trapp kids is transformed when the novice nun Maria is hired to take care of them. The hits — "Do-Re-Mi" and "The Hills are Alive" — have long been classics.

'Beehive'

July 8 to Aug. 9

Six women who came of age in the 1960s embody the female power that pushed through the decade and beyond. It's centered around hits like "Son of a Preacher Man" and "Me and Bobby McGee."

'Newsies'

Aug. 13 to Sept. 27

Teen newspaper boys, led by Jack Kelly, stand together against injustice to the soundtrack of "Seize the Day," "King of New York" and more.

'Phantom'

Oct. 1 to Nov. 15

It's a different "Phantom of the Opera" than Andrew Lloyd Webber's. This part remains the same: Hiding behind a mask, a disfigured man pines after a young woman in one of the most famous stories of unrequited love. But composer Maury Yeston and playwright Arthur Kopit put together a different telling.
