NFR officials interact with MPs, MLAs of Alipurduar division

NFR officials and legislators of Alipurduar during the interaction programme at the Divisional Headquarters in Alipurduar on Monday.

Dimapur, Sep. 2 (EMN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) General Manager Sanjive Roy along with senior officials on Monday had an interaction with Members of Parliament and Members of Legislative Assemblies of Alipurduar division at the Divisional Headquarters in Alipurduar.

The meeting was held to apprise the people’s representatives of the developmental activities undertaken by Railways and to solicit their opinion and suggestions for future course of action to make railway more user-friendly, a press release issued by Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Subhanan Chanda said.

Divisional Railway Manager K S Jain highlighted the efforts of the division to increase efficiency and safety in the railway operations.

He said, because of relentless efforts, as many as 136 elephants could be saved from becoming victim of accidents in various locations in the division in last one year.

General Manager Sanjive Roy said that railway electrification would be completed upto New Jalpaiguri in a couple of months and then electrified route will be extended up to Guwahati within March next year.

He also informed that 202 stations in NFR have been provided with free WiFi facilities ans stations are also being provided with lifts and escalators.

Highlighting various activities undertaken by the division, senior officials said that steps are being taken to eliminate level-crossing gates by constructing overbridges and underbridges at various locations.

The legislators suggested introduction of new trains, additional stoppages of existing trains and improving passenger amenities.

The meeting was attended by Lok Sabha MPs Nisith Pramanik, John Barla, Dr. Jayanta Kumar Roy, Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary and MLA Manoj Tigga.
