The all new generation of the Hyundai i10 has made its global debut. A derivative of the same car, was launched last month in India as the Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS. Both, Hyundai i10 for Europe and the Grand i10 NIOS for India are based on the same platform, but are slightly different in looks, offer different features and engine options.
The Europe spec i10 see similar looking headlamps with projector headlights. It gets a different grille design, different setup of LED DRLs and a different lower bumper. It also gets different sets of alloy wheels with lower profile tyres. These are larger 16 inch alloys, India gets 15 inch alloys. Euro-spec i10 also gets chrome door handles, different tail lamps and rear bumper.
On the inside, the dashboard setup remains same, of the European i10 and India’s Grand i10 NIOS. Steering wheel, touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charging, etc all is same. What has changed is the instrument console and the controls on steering wheel.
India’s Grand i10 NIOS comes with lesser steering mounted controls, whereas Europe’s i10 gets more controls on the steering wheel, as it comes with more features. For eg, Indian i10 NIOS misses out on Cruise Control. European i10 gets Cruise Control.
Instrument console of Europe’s i10 features twin pod setup with center digital display for MID. Indian i10 NIOS gets single circular pod for tachometer and a horizontal digital display for other information.
Seat fabric is more or less similar. But, Indian i10 NIOS gets integrated head rests on the front and rear. Whereas the European i10 gets adjustable headrests for all five passengers. European i10 also gets ISOFIX support at the rear seats.
New gen i10 in Europe comes in 10 colour choices of – Brass, Dragon Red, Phantom Black, Aqua Turquoise, Star Dust, Polar White, Champion Blue, Sleek Silver, Slate Blue and Tomato Red. Dual tone colour options of black or red roof is also on offer. Indian i10 NIOS is offered in 6 colours and 2 dual tone (only black roof).
In addition to the standard safety features like airbags, ABS, EBD, etc – the new i10 in Europe also gets advanced safety features like – Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keep Assist System, High Beam Assist, Intelligent Speed Limit Warning and Driver Attention Warning.
Powering the new Hyundai i10 in Europe is a 1.0 liter 3 cylinder petrol engine generating 66 hp and 96 Nm. Other option on offer is more powerful 1.2 liter petrol 4 cyl generating 82 hp and 118 Nm. Transmission options on offer are 5 speed MT and 5 speed AT.
