BENGALURU: Nearly 72 hours after a five-year-old boy was reported to have accidentally slipped into a storm water drain off Mysuru Road, massive search operation by a 60-member team on a 12km stretch of drain yielded no result.
The incident took place when Mohammed Zain had been to the edge of the drain along with a nine-year-old neighbourhood girl to dump garbage bags around 10.45pm on Friday.
The girl returned home alone in the night, claiming the boy had walked back to his house before her. After efforts to track down the boy failed by Saturday afternoon, the girl told police that Zain fell into the drain.
JJ Nagar police said they have launched investigations based on the statement made by the girl. “She’s scared and confused. CCTV footage taken from a mosque in the area shows the girl and Zain walking together, and the girl returning alone after 15 minutes,” a police officer said.
