It’s a few short months before the year comes to an end. And the respondents in the latest survey by Hurun Research Institute India are already drawing up their to-do lists.
Actually more like to-try lists, with a realistic timeline of over the next three years. As per the Hurun Indian Luxury Consumer Survey 2019, the activity that high net-worth individuals (HNIs) interviewed for the survey would like to try most is running a marathon, followed by paragliding and sailing.

Cycling, hiking, bungee jumping, art collection, horse riding and rock climbing are some of the other activities that HNIs would like to give a shot. The surprise item on the list is - Breatharianism.

For those unfamiliar with the concept, breatharianism is the belief that it is possible for a person to live without consuming food, and in some cases water. It is similar to the idea propagated by the yogic way of life in some instances, reliance on the all-powerful prana (life air or life force) for sustenance. Followers or breatharians as they are known claim that, if they are conscious of doing so, they can inhale prana through breath and sunlight.

The concept may have its merits, perhaps even plenty benefits, including monetary ones for the followers (help them cut back those hefty restaurant bills). But one can almost hear all those F&B executives cringe at the mere idea of breatharianism. That’s one group that will never appreciate this lifestyle choice.
