Coral Springs Pastor Accused Of Molesting Teen

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A popular preacher at the Church of God of Prophecy in Deerfield Beach is facing some very serious charges.

Pastor Maurice Lyn is accused of groping one of the teen aged boys from his congregation.

He made his first court appearance on Wednesday.

According to investigators, the pastor picked up a 15-year-old boy who attends his church, promising to help him buy school supplies.

Once the two returned to the child's apartment that's when Lyn, 44, is accused of kissing and groping the child, then promising a sex act the next time they met.

Police say the teen's mom recorded a confrontation about the allegations, where Lyn reportedly said "...he was praying and fasting for forgiveness."

Lyn was arrested Tuesday and charged with three counts of lewd and lascivious behavior.

Prosecutors asked the judge for a high bond, which was set at $75,000.

In court, Lyn's wife showed up, asking the judge to allow him to return home after he posts bond; the couple has a 7-year-old daughter.

The judge said that was fine but ordered that Lyn have no contact with any other minors.
