615 Magadh Mahila College graduates receive degrees
PATNA: Altogether 615 graduates of 2016-19 batch received their degrees at a convocation ceremony organized at Magadh Mahila College (MMC) on Wednesday.
The college, which is affiliated to Patna University (PU), also felicitated the toppers of different streams on the occasion.
Addressing the students, MMC principal Shashi Sharma said, “Of the 615 girls, 157 belong to the commerce department, 62 to the humanities stream, 162 to science and 234 to the social science department.
I am proud of them as they are excelling in every field.”
The principal also talked about various schemes and programmes initiated by the college. “We take extra care when it comes to maintaining hygiene. Every month, we spend Rs 8,000 on the cleanliness of the campus,” she said, adding MMC was the first college in Patna to provide a fully air-conditioned canteen to its students.
PU vice-chancellor (VC) Rash Bihari Prasad Singh pointed out, “MMC and Patna Women’s College are two of the most prominent institutes of PU. They are working for the betterment of women in Bihar.”
Deliberating on the importance of education, the VC said, “You should never stop learning. There is no problem in failing, but make sure that you learn something.”
The convocation ceremony also reconnected old friends, juniors and teachers.
“I am delighted to receive my degree. I congratulate my batchmates as well,” psychology department’s Kanika Rai told this newspaper.
Kanika’s friend and classmate Twinkle Sinha said, “My hard work has finally been recognized. I am also excited to meet my old friends and teachers after such a long time.”
