Along apprises Centre of projects to be taken up in Nagaland

Dimapur, Sep. 4 (EMN): Minister for Higher and Technical Education and Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along called on Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda and Union Minister of Human Resource Development Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank in New Delhi on Wednesday to apprise them of the projects to be taken up in the state.

This was informed through a press release issued by Kuolie Mere, PRO (IPR) Nagaland House, New Delhi.

Along briefed Munda on various tribal affairs-related projects that are going to be taken up in the state and sought his cooperation during their meeting. He also submitted the proposed directorate building at Kohima besides two mini directorates at Mokokchung at Tuensang, for which concept notes were prepared by the department of Tribal Affairs. The Union Minister assured to look into the matter and do the needful at the earliest.

Along also briefed the Union Minister on the activities and performance of Nagaland University which is slated to celebrate Silver Jubilee on September 6 at Lumami. The update informed that Munda will be the chief guest of the event.

Later in the day, Along met with Nishank at Shastri Bhavan and apprised him of the activities of the Higher and Technical Education departments and sought his help.

The Union Minister suggested that a conclave of Northeastern region and Himalayan States can be held at Kohima to deliberate on the circumstances of the hilly and mountainous States with regard to the New Educational Policy. He also instructed the officials to clear the pending liabilities and sanction funds, for which Along was asked “to send comprehensive proposals to the Ministry for expeditious approval and sanction.”

The HRD Minister said that he would consider sanctioning two more professional colleges for Nagaland and assured to give infrastructure grants to all 17 government colleges in the state and support weather research in Kohima Science College in every possible way.
