SASARAM: In the wake of mysterious death of three students on different school premises in the area within a month, Kaimur DM Nawal Kishor Chaudhary on Wednesday directed closure of all private schools not registered with the education department in the district.
Sources said the DM’s order will affect over 200 private schools in the district. The DM also directed the district education officer to lodge an FIR against those managing such schools and defy the directive.

Sources further said two private schools where students died in the last one month are also not registered with the education department.
Meanwhile, district education officer (DEO) Surya Narayan said 59 applications were pending for registration with the department. He said a three-member committee has been formed to take decision on the pending applications.
Directors of some private schools lamented that they have been running from pillar to post to get their institutions registered with the education department as the officer concerned evinced little interest in the matter.
According to sources, there are over 300 private schools in 11 blocks of Kaimur district, but only 108 were registered with the education department and 59 applications had been pending for approval since 2017.

A Class V student was found dead in the washroom of a private school at Kudra on Monday. On August 28, a Class X student died at a private school at Indrapuri in Rohtas district under mysterious circumstances. The school authorities said the boy died due to poisonous bite of some insect and he was admitted to the school hospital. However, postmortem could not be conducted as the deceased’s family took the body on their own will for his last rites.
A girl student in Kasturba Gandhi school at Siyo in Kaimur district died under mysterious circumstances on Sunday last. The victim, a Class VI student, was also declared brought dead by the doctors at the Bhabhua sadar hospital.
The DM also directed closure of a private school at Chainpur because of passing of a high-voltage electric wire above the school campus. The DM asked the school management to shift the school to a safer place.
