Minor gang-raped in Muzaffarpur village, FIR lodged

A Class VIII student in a village under Devaria police station in Muzaffarpur district was allegedly gang-raped late on Tuesday evening. The incident came to the light when the girl reached Devaria police station for registering a complaint on Wednesday evening. Police sources said the incident took place on Tuesday night, when the girl had come out to fill water from a handpump in the backyard of her house.

MUZAFFARPUR: A Class VIII student in a village under Devaria police station in Muzaffarpur district was allegedly gang-raped late on Tuesday evening.
The incident came to the light when the girl reached Devaria police station for registering a complaint on Wednesday evening. Police sources said the incident took place on Tuesday night, when the girl had come out to fill water from a handpump in the backyard of her house.
“Two youths from the neighbouring village dragged me after covering my mouth and took me to a secluded place.
After outraging my modesty, they released me on Wednesday morning and also threatened me of killing my kin,” she said before the police.
An FIR has been lodged against two youths—Arjun Kumar and Ranjit Kumar—on the basis of the survivor’s statement. “A named FIR has been lodged against two youths under different sections of Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and relevant sections of IPC. Both the youths are absconding after the incident. We have raided several places after the complaint was lodged,” Devaria SHO Pramod Kumar Rai said on Thursday.
“The girl resides with her elder sister at her in-law’s house after her father’s death,” the SHO added.
Muzaffarpur SSP Manoj Kumar said, “Medical examination of the girl has been done at the sadar hospital on Thursday and her clothes have been taken away for forensic investigation.”
