MUZAFFARPUR: In the third such incident in 24 hours in Muzaffarpur, Rs 17.62 lakh was looted from a microfinance company under Sadar police station, which is barely 100 metres from the firm's office, on Friday.
With this case, over Rs 32 lakh has been looted within a day. Rs 12.5 lakh was looted from an employee of another microfinance firm on Thursday in Ahiyapur while Rs 2.5 lakh was looted from a businessman in Sahebganj.
Police sources said more than 15 cases of robbery have been reported by finance companies in the past fortnight where cash was looted from the employees.
In Friday's incident, armed miscreants barged into a micro-finance company at Gobarsahi and looted Rs 17.6 lakh before fleeing towards Chandani Chowk area.
An employee of Sri Ram Transport Finance Company Ltd, Ajit Kumar said three armed criminals entered the office barely 15 minutes after the office had opened. "We were yet to settle down when three people entered posing as customers. They inquired about the process of taking loans and a colleague was trying to explain when one of the criminals pulled a gun at us. They attacked and injured me with the butt of the gun, when I resisted," Kumar said.
