2 scribes booked for ‘manipulating’ news in Bijnor

Two reporters have been booked for allegedly “manipulating” news about “Dalits threatening to leave” Basipur village under Mandawar police station after goons prevented them from drawing water from a handpump.

BIJNOR: Two reporters have been booked for allegedly “manipulating” news about “Dalits threatening to leave” Basipur village under Mandawar police station after goons prevented them from drawing water from a handpump.
According to SP (city) Lakshmi Nivas Mishra, on investigating the news published in a newspaper and run on electronic media, police found that none of the Dalit families was planning to leave the village.
The news was manipulated by the reporters.” Police claimed “house on sale” was written by Dalits at the suggestion of the reporters.
A case was registered against the two reporters on a complaint by senior sub inspector Pramod Kumar.
The incident related to two Dalit families, Valmiki and Ravidasi, getting into a scuffle over water.
Local journalists later met the DM to protest against “harassment” of reporters.
