AURANGABAD: Four people, including two women, claiming to be representatives of a London-based pharmaceutical company, have been booked on charges of cheating a city-based sexologist to the tune of Rs13.90 lakh.
According to police, the suspects are part of an organised racket that has been duping people on one or the other pretext by befriending or contacting their targets on social media or via email.

The suspects, claiming to be from England, befriended ayurvedic sexologist Shaikh Akhtar of Navjivan Ayurvedic Hospital through Facebook in the last week of June. Over a period of time, the suspects informed the doctor that they are looking for a particular drug that is exclusively available in India.
The suspects then shared contact number as well as email address of a firm reportedly situated in Mumbai and asked the sexologist to purchase the drug from the firm and export it to London. After contacting on the given number, the suspects asked the doctor to deposit the money in advance for placing an order.
Falling prey to the trap, Shaikh transferred Rs 13.90 lakh to the given bank account for purchasing three kilogram of the said drug. The suspects had assured the doctor that in-case he is not satisfied with the quality of the drug, he can return them within 14 days.
After buying the medicine, the suspects contacted Shaikh asking him to purchase another 100 packets weighing 400 grams each.
