PATNA: One Ajit Pradhan alias Sonu (22) was arrested on Sunday for allegedly raping a 19-year-old girl under the Pataliputra police station area in the state capital on Saturday. Sonu and the victim lived in the same building. She is preparing for the medical entrance examination. The accused is a resident of Krishna Brahma village in
Buxar district.
Police said the victim was alone when Sonu barged into her room and
raped her.
He also threatened her with dire consequences if she reported the incident to the police.
DSP (law & order) Rajesh Kumar said the accused and the
rape survivor were living on the same floor of the building. When the victim’s brother went outside, the accused knocked her door at noon. When she opened the door, he entered the room and committed the crime despite her strong resistance. She fell unconscious after the incident. When she regained senses, the survivor reported the incident to the Pataliputra police station.
The DSP said the girl’s medical examination was conducted at Patna Medical College and Hospital. “The medical report is awaited,” he said, adding the victim’s torn clothes have also been preserved as evidence to the crime.
Pataliputra police station SHO Kameshwar Prasad Singh said the rape survivor’s clothes would be sent to the state forensic science laboratory for examination. He said the accused was produced before the court, which sent him in 14-day judicial custody.
