Patna zoo to screen another 3D film from this month-end

The visitors to Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park, commonly known as Patna zoo, will now have more choices when it comes to watching a 3D film. The interpretation centre-cum-3D theatre will screen another 3D film -- ‘The Last Reef: Cities Beneath the Sea’.

PATNA: The visitors to Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park, commonly known as Patna zoo, will now have more choices when it comes to watching a 3D film. The interpretation centre-cum-3D theatre will screen another 3D film -- ‘The Last Reef: Cities Beneath the Sea’.
Patna zoo director Amit Kumar said order has been placed to procure the new film. “The 3D film directed by Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas enlightens the audience about the water world and its tiniest creatures and coral reefs.
We will get the movie after September 20. It will be screened in the last week of this month,” he told this newspaper on Sunday.
Amit said it will be a major attraction for the visitors as people are more fascinated to watch 3D films.
The cost of a 3D film is around Rs9.5 lakh with the licence to screen it for one year. Till now, the zoo has been screening only one 3D film, ‘Conquest of the Skies’. The cost of this movie is about Rs11 lakh with one year licence.
The zoo has also two 2D documentary films of the animal planet series — Levitating Lizards and Immortal Jellyfish and Supersonic Owls and Invisible Octopuses from Discovery Communications India (DCIN) under the memorandum of Understanding signed between both the parties in August.
Inaugurated in March by deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi, the theatre has a seating capacity of 150 people. Total six shows of 40-minutes duration each are screened at the 3D theatre from 10am to 5pm.
Amit said a 3D movie is screened thrice a day. “With new procurement, both the 3D films will have two screening per day while the 2D movie will be have one screening each,” he said.
Ticket for the 3D theatre is available at the zoo counters (near Gate 1 and Gate 2) and near the interpretation centre. The cost of a 3D show ticket is Rs30 for an adult and Rs15 for a child. Ticket for a 2D show has been priced at Rs20 for an adult and Rs10 for a child. There is no charge for kids up to 3 years of age.
