LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav has postponed his scheduled visit to Rampur after district administration promulgated section 144 of the CrPC banning assembly of four or more persons. He was slated to meet family members of MP Azam Khan and protest against lodging of "fake FIRs" against the senior party leader.
Talking to media before his scheduled departure to the district, Akhilesh said, "I was informed that 625 tazia processions are slated to be taken out day-long on Tuesday and community feasts will be organised across the city to mark Muharram and Ganesh Chaturthi respectively in Rampur so I have decided to postpone the visit to September 13." He will head for the district on September 13 for his two-day visit.

SP patron Mulayam Singh Yadav had given a clarion call to workers for taking to the street in protest against alleged political vendetta against Azam by the BJP government.
Akhilesh Yadav said Congress has alleged that his visit will lead to communal tension. "Congress Party, Bharatiya Janata Party and local administration are all the same. BJP is Congress and Congress is BJP as they are not different from each other," said Akhilesh.
He said, "The state government, too, is giving the impression that our visit will spark riots in the city,"
He alleged that they are also being denied PWD guest house and have been asked to stay in hotel during their next visit.
