BEd students of Patna Training College walk away with degrees

Altogether 46 students, who had passed the BEd examination of Patna University (PU) last year, got their degrees at the first convocation ceremony organized by the 111-year-old Patna Training College on Monday.

PATNA: Altogether 46 students, who had passed the BEd examination of Patna University (PU) last year, got their degrees at the first convocation ceremony organized by the 111-year-old Patna Training College on Monday.
PU education department’s former head R P Singh, who was the chief guest of the event, highlighted the importance of education in the socio-economic development of a country.
“Proper education can produce better human beings and take a country to greater heights,” he said.
Singh observed that teachers should possess a great deal of knowledge and skills in order to meet the demands and standards of quality education. He said, “I hope all the degree recipients become dedicated teachers and serve the society with all sincerity.”
PU vice-chancellor (VC) Rash Bihari Prasad Singh, in his presidential remarks, pointed out that India should make proper utilization of its demographic dividend. “By next year, the median age in India will be just 28, and this bulge in the working age population will last till 2055. It will ultimately lead to better economic growth,” he said.
Patna Training College principal Lalit Kumar presented the annual report and claimed that more than 24 degree recipients had already been appointed as teachers in Navodaya and Kendriya Vidyalayas this year.
PU pro-VC Dolly Sinha, education faculty dean Ashutosh Kumar, education department head Khagendra Kumar, registrar Manoj Kumar Mishra, students’ welfare dean N K Jha and proctor Rajnish Kumar attended the convocation.
32 degrees given to library, info science students: The Institute of Library and Information Science in Patna University (PU) organized a convocation ceremony in which 32 students received their degrees on Monday.
Magadh University’s former pro-vice-chancellor (VC) K N Paswan was the chief guest of the function, which was presided over by PU VC Rash Bihari Prasad Singh. Institute director Rabindra Kumar presented the annual report on the occasion.
