Nagaland to celebrate Swachhata hi Seva

Dimapur, Sep. 9 (EMN): A six-week-long Swachhata hi Seva (SHS) will be celebrated in Nagaland as a part of 150th birth anniversary celebration of Mahatma Gandhi.

An update from DIPR informed that in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s clarion call, Swachhata hi Seva will commence on September 11, coinciding the anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s historic speech at the Parliament of World Religions in Chicago, and conclude on October 27, coinciding the festival of light Deepavali (Diwali).

Nagaland will celebrate the launching of Swachhata hi Seva on September 11 at DC’s Conference Hall in Kohima at 10 am with Minister for PHED, Jacob Zhimomi as the special guest and founding member of Green Team Kohima, ThangiManen will give the keynote address, informed the update.

The campaign will be held in three phases with the theme “Plastic Waste Shramdaan.”
