JMB terror outfit leader arrested in Chennai

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) leader Asadullah S K alias Raja, 35, from a hideout at Neelankarai in Chennai on Tuesday. Asadullah is a native of Burdwan in West Bengal.

CHENNAI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) leader Asadullah S K alias Raja, 35, from a hideout at Neelankarai in Chennai on Tuesday. Asadullah is a native of Burdwan in West Bengal.
Based on a specific tip-off, an NIA team narrowed down on the terror outfit leader with the help of the Chennai city police and arrested him.
Initial inquiries revealed that Asadullah had been staying in a rented house at Neelankarai for the last 10 months.

NIA officials are inquiring if he was involved in any terror activities in Chennai.
He arrest follows that of JMB operative Ejaz Ahmed. Ahmed, who was arrested by the Kolkata Police Special Task Force (STF) on August 29, revealed that he had selected North Bengal as the new base for the banned outfit's operations in India.
After producing Asadullah in a judicial magistrate court at Alandur, the NIA team will take to the agency’s regional headquarters in Hyderabad.
