Pothole claims auto driver's life in Mumbai

As it was raining continuously on Saturday, the potholes were not visible. The victim bumped his auto into a huge pothole in the middle of the road.

Pothole claims auto driver's life in Mumbai

A 47-year-old auto driver in Mumbai lost his life due to potholes on the city roads. The auto driver has been identified as Panchamlal Nirmal, a resident of Andheri West.

The incident took place on Saturday when Nirmal was carrying a passenger from Andheri East to Bandra East side. He was passing through service road next to western express highway in Bandra.

As it was raining continuously on Saturday, the potholes were not visible. Nirmal bumped his auto into a huge pothole in the middle of the road.

The front tyre of the auto got stuck in the pothole. Nirmal lost control of the auto and his hands were off from the steering.

Nirmal fell out of the auto and the auto fell on him. He was crushed under his own auto. The locals and cops took Nirmal to VN Desai hospital in Santacruz.

Nirmal's bones were crushed due to the impact and he was facing a lot of difficulty in breathing. Later in the day, Nirmal succumbed to his injuries.

The Kherwadi Police has filed an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in the matter.

Nirmal is survived by three girls and a wife. He is was sole breadwinner for the family. The family have now left for Jaunpur which is Nirmal's hometown where final rites will be done. The cops are investigating the case.
