GREATER NOIDA: A student was booked on Tuesday for allegedly threatening a physical education teacher of a government school in Jewar after the tutor confiscated a country-made pistol from his school bag on September 3. The teacher had informed the principal about the pistol but the principal allegedly did not take any disciplinary action. Later, the student threatened the teacher and said he would be killed in five days.
The student, whose age has not been confirmed yet, is in Class XI at Janta Inter College at Chauroli village in Jewar.
The boy’s family is from the area. On Monday, a police complaint was filed by Vimal Kumar Sharma, the physical education teacher. He had alleged that a pistol was found during routine checks for mobile phones. “I seized the pistol and asked the student to bring his father to school,” said Sharma.
Later, the student brought his father and the firearm was handed over to him after the boy apologised. But on Monday, the boy came to school and thrashed a student. “He beat him up because he suspected that the boy had revealed information about the pistol. Later, the student threatened me. He said my countdown has begun and he would kill me in five days,” said Sharma. Soon after that, he reported the matter to police.
Principal D P Singh denied such a seizure and alleged that the teacher had some grudge against the student, “The matter is being investigated at the school level. Allegations made by the teacher are incorrect,” said Singh. Ajay Kumar Agarwal, SHO, Jewar, told TOI that a case has been lodged against the accused under IPC sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation). “We are investigating the allegations. We are also probing the role of principal in the casesoon,” said Agarwal.
