AGRA: The excitement of one of the toppers in Uttar Pradesh secondary board exam this year turned into disappointment, when the cheque presented to him by chief minister Yogi Adityanath bounced.
Parduman Verma, the second rank holder in Farrukhabad district for the Class X exam of the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Board (UPSEB), was called to Lucknow on September 1 for a felicitation ceremony, where the chief minister presented him a cheque of Rs 21,000.

His father Totaram Verma deposited the cheque at a bank in Farrukhabad on September 9. Subsequently, he was informed it had bounced as it did not have the signature of the district inspector of schools.
“I was happy to receive the cheque from the CM, but when I went with my father to encash it, the bank said the cheque had bounced. It was a big disappointment,” said Parduman Verma.
After the matter came to light, DIOS Adarsh Kumar Tripathi said, “We’ll check how the signature was missing from the cheque, and coordinate with the bank to get it cleared.”
Speaking to TOI, Parduman Verma who scored 91.17 percent said, "After the matter came into lime light, the district administration has helped me to clear the cheque. The matter has been resolved."
