Bihar: Parents threaten stir against Aurai police
MUZAFFARPUR: The parents of two youths killed at Madhuban Besi under Aurai police station last Saturday have threatened to launch agitation if the killers were not arrested within a week.
However, seven persons, including a chowkidar of Aurai police station deputed in the village, were arrested and sent to jail on Monday.
Muzaffarpur SSP Manoj Kumar suspended Aurai station house officer Ravi Gupta for dereliction of duty.

The SSP said Ravindra Kumar has been made the new SHO of Aurai police station. “Gupta has been asked to report to the police lines during his suspension period. Two separate FIRs have been lodged with Aurai police station — one against the hooligans who had beaten up the policemen and another pertaining to killing of youths,” he said.
Meanwhile, parents of the deceased alleged that their wards were killed with the help of senior police officers of the district.
Ajay Thakur, father of the deceased Mukund Thakur, said Aurai police officers had handed over his son to his killer after picking him along with his friend Dinesh Kumar Sah from a bridge outside the village. “My neighbours told me that policemen had taken away my son and his friend and handed them over to one Uma Shahi, who is a named accused in the case. Police officers also took the motorbikes of the youths to the police station,” he alleged.

Accusing the police of not taking proper action in the case, Thakur said: “They are doing nothing to arrest the other named accused who were still roaming around in the village. If the accused are not arrested in a week, I will start agitation.”
Notably, locals had a violent clash with Aurai police on Saturday evening following recovery of dead bodies of two youths. Three policemen, including sub-inspector Ramadhar Singh, were injured in the incident.
