PATNA: Four unidentified bodies were fished out from Amethi Rajwara nahar (canal) under Nokha police station area in Rohtas district on Tuesday. “Prima facie it appears to be a case of suicide as there were no injury marks on the bodies. We are investigating the case from all possible angles,” Nokha SHO Narottam Chandra said.
He said police were informed about the incident around 6.30am on Tuesday.
“Some locals first spotted a woman’s body floating. When local divers jumped into the canal to fish her out, they found three more bodies of minor children, including two girls. The bodies are yet to be identified,” he said.
According to police sources, the deceased woman was in her early 40s, while one girl was around eight-year-old and another around five years of age. The boy was hardly two-year-old. The bodies were sent to Sadar hospital for postmortem.
Two drown in Saran: At least two children drowned in a pond at Karn Kudaria village under Mashrakh police station area in Saran district on Tuesday. Saran SP Har Kishore Rai said four children had jumped into a pond to take a bath but three of them were soon found drowning by some daily wagers working in a nearby field. They immediately rushed to the spot and pulled them out. They were rushed to Mashrakh primary health centre where two of them were declared brought dead. The third victim has been admitted to a local private hospital. The deceased have been identified as Vicky (10), son of Surendra Sah and Dinesh (10), son of Vijai Sah, both residents of Karn Kudaria. Rahul (14), son of one Rajesh Sah, survived, the SP said.
According to local residents, all of them were students of Upgraded Middle School at Karn Kudaria.
