Over 30,000 Ganesh idols immersed in Hyderabad, says civic body

HYDERABAD: Amid pomp and gaiety, over 30,000 Ganesh idols were immersed during the past 24 hours in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area.
The immersion, which began on Thursday morning went on till Friday afternoon, a press release said here on Friday.
Ganesh Charthuti, an 11-day event which began on September 2, concluded peacefully with elaborate arrangements made by GHMC and other departments, including the police, it said.

As many as 23 lakes and ponds were earmarked for the immersion of the idols and the same water bodies would be used for the upcoming Durga Navratri and Bathukamma festivals, the release added.
