VIJAYAWADA:  High-voltage drama was seen at police headquarters in Mangalagiri on Friday, when leaders of both ruling YSR Congress and opposition Telugu Desam Party lodged complaints against each other with Director General of Police (DGP) Gautam Sawang. YSRC Mangalagiri MLA A Ramakrishna Reddy, with SC/ST leaders, arrived at the DGP’s office around 11 am and submitted a memorandum, requesting police action against former Mahila Commission chairperson Nannapaneni Rajakumari for her ‘derogatory’ comments against Sub Inspector Anuradha on Wednesday.

As the SI prevented Rajakumari and other party leaders from proceeding towards former CM N Chandrababu Naidu’s residence to take part in ‘Chalo Atmakur’ call given by TDP leaders, Rajakumari allegedly abused the officer. Following SI Anuradha’s complaint in Mangalagiri police station, a case was registered under sections 353, 506, 509 r/w 34 of the IPC against Rajakumari on Thursday.

The police further served notices to the former Mahila Commssion chairperson to appear before the investigating officers on Friday. But she didn’t appear for questioning. “For obstructing government official from discharging their duties, Nannapaneni Rajakumari should face the investigation procedure. Such attitude is not acceptable in a democratic nation. If she feels that she is innocent, she can approach the court,” the Mangalagiri MLA said.

Meanwhile, Telugu Desam leaders--former ministers K Atchnnaidu and Nakka Anandbabu, MLAs Gadde Rammohan Rao and Yalamanchili Rajendra Prasad and Bonda Umamaheswara Rao--also submitted a counter-complaint and two books, about the ‘atrocities’ by YSRC leaders reported in Palnadu region, to the DGP.

Addressing the media, Atchnnaidu came down heavily on CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and called him ‘Hitler’ “There is no administration in Andhra Pradesh. Instead of serving the people, YSRC leaders are attacking us. The incident in Palnadu region is one such example. When we gave the call for ‘Chalo Atmakur’, to console and instill confidence among the party cadre, the government foiled it, citing law and order problems,” he said. Responding to both the complaints, DGP Sawang said necessary action would be initiated against those who created unrest in the Palnadu region.
