Uranium mining: Congress invites BJP for all-party meet in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Intensifying its struggle against the State government, TPCC Committee for taking up agitation against uranium mining in Nallamala Forests chairman of TPCC V Hanumantha Rao has said that they call for a all-party meet and they have invited state BJP president Dr K Laxman to participate in the all-party meeting to be held on September 16.

Rao stold that Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan, TTDP chief L Ramana, TJS chief Prof M Kodandaram, CPI state secre- tary Chada Venkat Reddy, CPM state secretary Thammineni Veerabhadram, Telangana Inti Party chief Dr Cheruku Sudhakar, former MLC Prof K Nageshwar, Environmental activists Prof Purushotham Reddy, Prof Anand Rao, Prof Laxmanna and others already accepted to participate in the all-party meeting to be held in a private hotel in Jubilee Hills.

He said that BJP state chief Laxman assured him that he would try maximum to attend the all-party meeting. Rao said that they would go to people after all-party meeting. He opined that all have the responsibility of protecting Krishna River catchment area.

He said that the government may purchase uranium if it wanted uranium for nuclear power gen- eration. “But is not possible to purchase the forests and water if they disappeared”, he asked. He made it clear that they will not allow the government for uuranium mining at any cost.

However, various NGOs are protesting against Uranium Mining and the protesters reaches Hyderabad, posters and stickers appearing many places.

Recently NGO called Forests and Wildlife Protection Society (FAWPS) is spreading awareness by organising campaigns and placing posters in Hyderabad.
