Law enforcement raising funds for Special Olympics

JSSP Events and Happenings

On Sept. 17-18, more than 100 law enforcement will take part in the Tip-a-Cop event where personnel will volunteer their time, hosting guests in Applebee‘s Neighborhood Grill and Bars across the state to raise awareness and tip money for Special Olympics. This is the 13th annual event for the Law Enforcement Torch Run group (LETR), which consists of volunteers from all agencies of law enforcement. The Law Enforcement Torch Run program is the largest public awareness and fundraising program for Special Olympics throughout the world.

The event will take place during the dinner shifts from 5 to 9 p.m. at Applebee's in North Dakota including Jamestown.

“There is a lot of excitement for this year‘s event," said Sherry Schutt, James River Correctional Center. She said officers, deputies and personnel from other agencies are volunteering.

"We’ll be greeting, hosting, seating, and visiting with the customers at Applebee’s, with help of area athletes," she said.
