PATNA: Unidentified criminals shot at a garment trader after barging inside his shop located at Naubatpur market in western Patna in Bihar at around 11am on Saturday.
Naubatpur police station SHO Samrat Deepak Kumar said that Amit Kumar (45) was sitting at his shop when criminals opened fire on him.
“He had received three bullet injuries and was rushed to a private hospital located near Saguna Mor at Danapur where his condition was stated to be critical,” he said.

SHO Kumar said that reason behind the incident was yet not clear and a pellet was recovered from spot.
“Neither the family members were able to tell anything nor is the trader in a condition to speak to anyone. It was yet not clear if the incident was the fallout of any personal enmity or due to extortion demand,” he said, adding, police were scanning CCTV camera footages of the locality to get clue about the criminals.
The SHO said that three criminals had reached the spot on a bike. “While two remained seated, one of the criminals went inside Amit’s shop and opened fire,” he said.

Meanwhile, sources from Naubatpur market said that in May last year, Amit’s uncle Pradeep Kumar alias Deepu was also shot dead by criminals.
“He also owned a medical shop at Naubatpur market. Murmuring was that he was killed for not paying extortion to criminal. Amit’s garment shop named Sangeeta Vastralaya was located hardly a few paces away from the spot where his uncle used to run the medical shop,” he said.
When asked, SHO Kumar said that was unable to immediately tell the reason behind Pradeep’s murder as he was newly posted but has information that investigation was completed in Pardeep’s murder case and the chargesheet had also been filed against six people.
Sources said that Saturday’s incident was first major one after Pradeep’s killing last year.
“The entire Naubatpur area had remained peaceful after notorious Muchkund Sharma was killed in an encounter with STF at Rupaspur on December 13 last year,” he said.
