PATNA: Police arrested five drug peddlers and seized 300 grams of brown sugar worth more than Rs 50 lakh in international market from a house on road number 4 at Indira Nagar under the Jakkanpur police station area in the city on Saturday.
SHO of Jakkanpur police station Mukesh Kumar Verma said the arrested drug peddlers were identified as Rajesh Yadav alias Kariman (37), Sonu Kumar (22), Ganesh Kumar (24), Santosh Kumar (32) and Mithilesh Kumar (25).

“A digital hand-held weighing machine, a transparent masking tape, white papers used for packing brown sugar, cellphones, Rs 12,000 in cash and a two-wheeler were seized during the raid,” the SHO said, adding 100 packets of drugs, which were kept ready for sale in market, were also seized from the house.
The SHO said the drug peddlers were packing brown sugar into small packets when police raided their rented accommodation.
“Rajesh used to move on two-wheeler to sell packets containing half to one gram of brown sugar. Police had received intelligence input that an organised drug supply gang was active in the area,” he said.
The SHO said Rajesh was kingpin of the drug racket. “He has told police about a woman from whom they used to procure drugs,” he said, adding Rajesh, Sonu and Ganesh are natives of New Etwarpur under the Parsa Bazaar police station area. Santosh is a native of Kurthaul under the Parsa Bazaar police station area in Patna district.
