NEW DELHI: A probe has been ordered after videos of a group of youths went viral wherein they are seen disrupting traffic and standing on the roof of the vehicles in Delhi University’s North Campus.
Senior police officers confirmed the authenticity of the videos that went viral on Saturday, a day after the DUSU election results were declared.
A group of men was partying on the roads and violated multiple traffic rules in full public view in north Delhi’s Maurice Nagar and adjoining areas.

The video shows the group, in at least three different cars, dancing and shouting while standing on the roof of their vehicles, even as commuters tried to cross the stretch.
Shot on a mobile phone, the video showed the group driving around in a white Hyundai i20, Audi and Honda City cars. The group reportedly continued to do the stunts for at least an hour.
In another shot, the men are seen coming out of the windows of their cars and sitting on top as the cars roamed freely around North Campus. Later, the men again stopped in the campus and blocked the road by sitting on the bonnet and the roof of their vehicles and then drove around in that position.

Delhi Police spokespersons said that they have taken cognizance of the videos that were being circulated on social media. Based on that, an investigation has been initiated and efforts are being made to identify the men involved in the ruckus. Legal action will be taken against them accordingly.
The cops are checking for the source of the videos and trying to figure out the registration details of the cars. The CCTV footage from the area is also being checked.
It is also being probed whether the men in the videos are college students or outsiders. Details are also being sought from traffic police personnel who were reportedly present in the area but failed to take necessary action on the spot.
