Last-minute entrants win Karnataka's first PUBG tournament

BENGALURU: The first private PUBG tournament organised in the state on Saturday turned out to be an edge-of-the-seat thriller: Four final-year engineering students, who registered their team, MIB (Men in Black), minutes before the deadline for entries closed, emerged victorious.
In the game that lasted for 24 minutes, team MIB pinned down 13 opponents to win the game.Vikram K and Rahul DB from Vijayapura, Sudharshan HT from Karwar and Prajwal TJ from Shivamogga decided to participate in the tournament along with 24 other teams from across the state.
Vikram, who is studying computer science engineering, told TOI they are not addicted to the game, but play only during their leisure time. “I was attracted to the game a couple of weeks ago as many told me about the impressive game design and software.”
Initially, Vikram hesitated to share information, stating the game was negatively portrayed, but later opened up. “I invested Rs 50 and made a profit of Rs 450 in 24 minutes and on top of it, this game is education and entertainment to me. It becomes addiction when one loses control over themselves.”
Vikram said, “Though we never planned to participate in any tournament, we had browsed a few of the game videos on YouTube, which helped us. Sudarshan and Rahul were here with me, but Prajwal, who is down with fever, played from his hometown.” Interestingly, Prajwal (Rage Ninja in the game) secured man of the match by single-handedly killing eight opponents.
