BEGUSARAI: A man, whose two children have died due to suspected diarrhoea, has blamed negligence on the part of the doctors of Begusarai sadar hospital for the tragedy.
The man, Mukesh Mallick from Maheshwara village under the Naokothi police station area in Begusarai district, said he took his two children – Julie Kumari (5) and Ravi Kishan (7) – to the sadar hospital after they complained of acute vomiting and loose motion on Friday evening.

“We were made to run helter-skelter in the hospital for hours even as the condition of the children kept deteriorating. Finally, the children were admitted late in the night. However, it was too late by then and Julie breathed her last. To our shock, the doctors asked us to take Ravi to another hospital on Saturday morning,” Mukesh said.
He added, “No one in the hospital even provided us ambulance and we were forced to take Ravi to a private clinic on a motorcycle. He was declared brought dead there.”
Begusarai civil surgeon Braj Nandan Sharma, however, said the two children were not suffering from diarrhoea. “They were admitted to the hospital in a serious condition. The doctors did not refer Ravi for treatment anywhere else. His relatives took him to the private clinic without giving any information to the hospital,” the civil surgeon said.
Several calls to the cellphone of Sanjay Kumar, the principal secretary of the health department by this newspaper, went unanswered.
