PATNA: The newly established Patliputra University has made an unusual claim about governor Fagu Chauhan, who is also the chancellor of the university, calling him the “richest politician” of UP’s Mau district, even “richer than Mukhtar Ansari” — a don-turned-politician with more than 40 criminal cases against him.
The university’s website (www.ppup.ac.in), in a link titled ‘Administration’ provides a separate page with a profile of the chancellor, which also has a photograph of him.

The content on this page on the PPU’s website, which was removed on Saturday evening after the university was contacted for a comment, read: “H.E. FAGU CHAUHAN is a Governor of Bihar and Indian Politician and a Member of 17th Legislative Assembly ,Uttar Pradesh of india .He is the only MLA from ghosi who won maximum number of times (six times ).He represents the Ghosi (Assembly Constituency) in Mau District of uttar Pradesh .He has many Business Profession such as Transformer Factory and cold stories . He is also the richest politician in Mau District evan richer than Mukhtar Ansari (sic).”
Needless to say, the paragraph contains a number of howlers (both spelling and compositional). The website is reportedly managed by a teacher of this university.
PPU pro-vice-chancellor G K Chaudhary, when contacted, pleaded ignorance over it, but assured that the content on the website would be reviewed and the objectionable part deleted.
PPU with thousands of students on its rolls has 25 constituent colleges, including two government girls colleges, three minority colleges and a number of affiliated colleges located in Patna and Nalanda districts.
