Nine from Bihar elected to eastern zone dairy body
PATNA: For the first time, nine of the 10 from Bihar contesting for the eastern zone executive committee posts of Indian Dairy Association (IDA) were elected.
While Sudhir Kumar Singh was elected chairman of the eastern zone executive committee of the IDA, the other winners from Bihar included Dharmendra Kumar Srivastava was elected as vice-chairman, Sanjeev Singh as its general secretary and Rupesh Raj as its treasurer.
Sudhir defeated outgoing chairman Raghu Chattopadhyaya.
The election was held at Kolkata last week. Voters were from eastern zone states of Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Sikkim and Nagaland. IDA provides a platform to dairy scientists, dairy professors and milk producers, among other professionals.
The successful holding of the three-day 47th Dairy Industry Conference at Patna from February 7 this year is stated to be the reason behind grand success of people from Bihar in the IDA elections, sources said.
