SHIVAMOGGA: Panic spread in Theerthahalli's Holekoppa Basavani village of Karnataka after a leopard ventured into the area on Friday night. The leopard took away agriculturist Raghunath HM's dog from his house.
The incident was reported at 1.25am on Friday. "We have two dachshunds that were outside the house. When I woke up in the morning, I found one of the dogs missing.
After searching in the nearby areas, I checked the CCTV footage and saw a leopard sitting on the compound wall and later returning with one of the dogs that was inside the compound. We have immediately alerted the forest department. A neighbour informed us that they spotted the leopard near the cattle shed located, the next day. It escaped when they switched on the lights. We hope the forest department acts and rescues the leopard at the earliest," said Raghunath.
Forest officials said that they have asked the guards to keep a watch in the area and requested people to avoid venturing out of their homes after evening.
