PATNA: In a road rage incident, a 30-year-old truck driver was brutally assaulted by four youths riding on two motorbikes on the National Highway-30 in Nawada district on Sunday.
The driver, Kaushal Kumar, is battling for his life at Nawada sadar hospital.
The victim’s assistant and co-driver Bipin Kumar, a resident of Nalanda district, told police that the youths intercepted their vehicle near Raje Bigha village under the Pakriyama police station area in Nawada district when they were on way to Barh in Patna from Koderma in Jharkhand.

The youths got agitated over delay in giving passage to their motorbikes. “They dragged Kaushal out of the vehicle and beat him up badly. When I intervened and tried to save him, I was also thrashed by the youths,” Bipin said.
The attackers started fleeing on seeing some local residents rushing to the spot. However, two of them, who introduced themselves as Vikas Kumar and Golu Kumar, both residents of Karbigahia locality in the state capital, were apprehended and handed over to the police. However, their two other associates—Nitish Kumar and Suraj Kumar— managed to escape.
Nawada Mufassil police station SHO Darbari Choudhary said that a complaint was lodged on the victim’s statement. The incident took place when the youths were returning to Patna from Kakolat waterfall in Nawada district.
