Stone mafia attack Rohtas divisional forest officer, vandalize his vehicle

Rohtas divisional forest officer (DFO) P Gaurav and his armed forest guards were attacked by the stone mafia on Sunday morning after they seized two stone-laden tractors at Fajilpur village under the Mufassil police station area of the district.

SASARAM: Rohtas divisional forest officer (DFO) P Gaurav and his armed forest guards were attacked by the stone mafia on Sunday morning after they seized two stone-laden tractors at Fajilpur village under the Mufassil police station area of the district.
Though the DFO escaped unhurt, his official vehicle was vandalized and the attackers also managed to free the seized stone-laden vehicles from the possession of the forest guards.
On the written statement of the forester, Valmiki Singh, an FIR against many unknown persons has been lodged with the police station concerned in this connection. Raids are also being conducted to nab the culprits. This is the first attack on a senior officer in the last four years.
Sasaram ASP Rajesh Kumar also confirmed the incident. Forest department sources said, “On a tip-off about illegal quarrying in Kaimur hills, the DFO along with some armed guards reached Fazilpur village on Sunday morning and seized two stone-laden tractors. On seeing the forest officer and his team, the drivers of the tractors managed to escape from the spot and informed the local villagers As soon as the villagers came to know about the arrival of the forest official and his team, a mob reached the spot and attacked the DFO with lathis when the tractors were being taken away to Sasaram. Luckily, the forest officer came out of the vehicle unhurt, his official vehicle was badly damaged and the rear glass was smashed.”
