PATNA: Two persons in Buxar and another in Nawada district were beaten to death on Saturday night.
Police said Yogendra Pandey (25) and Pradeep Sah (35) were attacked with sticks and iron rods at Kurthia village under Bagen Gola police station in Buxar district around 8.30pm on Saturday. However, their bodies were recovered from an orchard on the outskirts of the village on Sunday morning.
Buxar SP Upendra Nath Verma said police recovered the bodies on the information received from local residents, who first spotted the deceased when they had gone to their agricultural field for work.
The bodies, which bore multiple injury marks, were sent to the Sadar hospital for postmortem.
While Pandey belonged to Bhartua village, Sah was a native of Kurthia, both in Buxar district. The locals told the police that they had seen the duo in the orchard late on Saturday evening. “What happened to them later is not known to us,” a police officer posted at the Bagen Gola police station quoted a local resident as saying.
Bagen Gola SHO Manoj Kumar said the incident was a fallout of an altercation over some petty issue with one Bajrangi Tiwari, a resident of Badwar village under Bagen Gola police station area. “Bajrangi has already been arrested and raids were on to nab his other associates,” he told this newspaper over phone on Sunday.
Bajrangi later confessed to the crime. He revealed to the police that an altercation took place leading to the incident. “Efforts are on to arrest other accomplices of Bajrangi,” the SHO said. Senior police officers, including Brahmapur DSP, visited the spot to take stock of the situation.

In a similar incident, 24-year-old Sakaldev Kumar was beaten to death by a group of people at Kedua village under Mufassil police station in Nawada district around midnight. The incident took place when Sakaldev was on way to his furniture shop godown from his native village on Saturday night.
Nawada Mufassil SHO Darwari Choudhary said the body of the victim was recovered around 6am on Sunday. The body has been sent to the Sadar hospital at Nawada for autopsy, he added.
The motive of the killers is yet to be ascertained. The SHO said the body bore multiple injury marks, which suggested that he was badly beaten up, leading to his death. An FIR has been lodged against unidentified persons in this connection.
