PATNA: Unidentified armed bike borne criminals shot dead a trader in broad day light when he was sitting outside his residence with few people at Simli under Malsalami police station area in Patna City on Sunday.
The trader was identified as Rakesh Kumar (45) who owned couple of band groups which are hired for marriages.
This is second incident in the district in around 24 hours when a trader was targeted by criminals.
On Saturday, a garment shop owner Amit Kumar (45) was shot thrice by three bike borne criminals inside his shop at Naubatpur market in western Patna. His condition was still critical.
Patna city SDPO Manish Kumar said that apart from owning band groups, the deceased trader had recently started working as an agent for providing driving licence to people in the area.
“He also owned few shop which were running on rent on the ground floor of his residence at Simli,” he said.
Kumar said that three criminals reached the spot on bike and opened fire targeting Rakesh.
“The criminals immediately fled. The trader died on spot. He had received two bullet injuries. No empty cartridges were recovered from spot,” he said.
SDPO Kumar said that the family members of the deceased trader told police about an old enmity and suspected that the killing was fallout of the same.

“Names of few suspects had surfaced before police and raid were being conducted to nab them at present their location was untraceable which raises suspicion that they were perhaps involved in the killing,” he said.
Kumar said that CCTV camera footages of the area were being scanned by police to get clue about the criminals who had reached at the spot. “Police suspects hired shooters were used to kill the trader,” he said.
The SPDO said that body was sent for post mortem at Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH).
“Police were awaiting to receive a written complaint from family members for lodging an FIR,” he said.
Meanwhile, in another incident, a youth Raushan Kumar (23) was shot at in his right leg by unidentified criminals at Jogipur Nahar under Patrakarnagar police station area in Patna on Sunday.
SHO Manoj Kumar Singh said that three bike borne youths reached near Kumar and asked him way to move ahead.
“Kumar at that time was talking on phone just outside his rented accommodation. Soon after asking address, one of the criminals pulled out a pistol and shot him in leg,” SHO Singh said adding reason behind incident was yet unknown.
He said that Kumar was a studying at private collage and was also working as salesman for a private firm.
